Use case - Where do people live who work in Auckland CBD area and uses car as a mode of transport

An example use case to show case the applications functionality. Similar methodology can be applied to Education app as well.

Left Panel

  • Select Auckland Region (as Auckland CBD areas are within Auckland Region).
  • Select "Drive a private car truck or van", "Drive a company car truck or van" and "Passenger in a car truck or van or company bus"
  • Click on the blue "Click here to show details"

Result

The default view will show where people work in whole Auckland region who uses car based mode of transport.

  • Clicking the "Where people live" will show where people live who uses car as a mode of transport.

  • Clicking the "Show both" will show where people work and live who uses car as a mode of transport.

Select a Auckland CBD area for getting the details

Lasso

  • Use the tool bar and click on circle (‘lasso’) selecter, and use the mouse click + drag to select the CBD region.

  • Using the selection will select all regions (SA2) covered within the selection.

  • Click the button (to show details), that appear on selections.

Details

  • Selected areas are show with colored choropleth map. The areas are listed just above the map.

Selected areas: Shortland Street (Auckland), Wynyard-Viaduct (Auckland), Anzac Avenue (Auckland), Auckland-University (Auckland), Quay Street-Customs Street (Auckland), Queen Street (Auckland), Victoria Park (Auckland), Hobson Ridge North (Auckland)

  • The left pane show for the people who are usually resident in the selected region where do they go for work (who are using the selected means of travel/s)? Each marker dot in the figure corresponds to 1-10 people, and has been placed randomly in a SA2.

  • The right pane show our result of for the people who work at the selected region and travelled using the selected means of travel/s, where do they usually reside?
